Zac Efron Pulls Out of ‘Footloose’
March 23, 2009 by Heather

Zac Efron has apparently pulled out of the remake of Footloose, in which he was to play the main character, Ren McCormack.
Rumors say he’s dropped the movie because he wants to be seen as more than a “song and dance man” and doesn’t want to do another musical, even though the ones he has done (High School Musical and Hairspray) did very well for him! I admit I’m a little disappointed, I was looking forward to it and think he would have done a great job!
Footloose, which is being directly by HSM director Kenny Ortega, is set to start shooting this spring. Zac had script approval on the screenplay and apparently used a loophole in that to get out of the contract.
