This isn’t really giving us much to work with! Apparently Zac Efron has signed on to star in an untitled thriller.

But not only is the title being kept secret, but so is the plot and character info. Why bother announcing it? To let us know Zac is taking on a mature, non-teen-heartthrob starring role? We get it already!

Zac will be working with writer Leslie Dixon, whom he also worked with on Hairspray. No word on a director yet.

I like thrillers in general and I can’t wait to hear bout this one, so hopefully we’ll get some more information soon!

ET had a brief promo of Vanessa Hudgens‘ upcoming film, Beastly:

The premise of the movie is a Beauty and the Beast with a modern twist when a New York teenager is transformed into a hideous monster in order to find true love. It co-stars Alex Pettyfer as the beast and Mary-Kate Olsen.

I can’t wait to see this! It has a release date of July 30, 2010.

I really hope this one’s just a rumor but time will tell!

Warner Brothers, who recently bought the rights to the movie, are apparently set on remaking the 1985 classic Teen Wolf, which originally starred Michael J. Fox as a teenager who discovers he’s a werewolf.

Guess who’s being discussed for the lead role? Zac Efron’s name has been tossed around on several other sites now, though there’s no telling what WB has in mind just yet.

It’s still a ways off, but what do you think? Should he do it or is this just another road to being a movie stereotype?

Zac Efron’s current hit movie, 17 Again, will be hitting DVD and Blu-Ray August 11th. Amazon is already accepting pre-orders of $24.99 for Blu-Ray, and $20.49 for DVD.

Zac plays the teen version of Mike O’Donnell, a 37-year-old guy whose life didn’t quite turn out how he wanted it to. He wishes he could go back to high school and change it, and wakes up one day twenty years younger with the chance to rewrite his life. It costars Matthew Perry, Leslie Mann, Tom Lennon, and Michelle Trachtenberg.

No sooner did Zac Efron drop out from the remake of Footloose, claiming he doesn’t want to be typecast with the singing and dancing roles, he’s rumored to be interested in Rock of Ages, and now a Saturday Night Fever remake.

The project is being spearheaded by American Idol judge Simon Cowell, who has his own television production and music label. Zac, of course, would take on the lead part of Tony Manero which was originally played by his Hairspray co-star John Travolta in the 70’s.

The soundtrack, originally worked by the BeeGees, would be reworked by Timbaland.

In Saturday Night Fever, lead character Manero, a 19-year-old Italian-American, led a mundane existence working in a small hardware store by day but ruled the dance floor at a Brooklyn dance club at night.

Zac Efron was recently quoted as saying that he’d gladly cross-dress for a role, especially if it means he can act in a movie with girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens again!

Zac says he wants so badly to be in Vanessa’s next movie, “Sucker Punch,” that he’d gladly dress up as a woman to do it, because the movie is mostly an all-female cast.

Zac told E!: “I think it’s an all-girl movie. But if there’s any way to be in that film, I’d do it. I’d play a girl if I had to.”

Vanessa is apparently really excited to be in the film, and was quoted on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet saying “I’m so stoked about it. I kept telling everyone, ‘I want to do an action film’. But they were like, ‘Maybe in a few years.’ So I’m like, ‘Ha, in your face. I am doing one now!’”

Earlier this month, Zac Efron’s girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens said she’d be willing to go nude for a part, providing it was appropriate for the role.

Now “a source” has said that Zac is encouraging Vanessa to do what she needs to do to shed the “goody-goody” image, and that if she can achieve this by posing for a men’s magazine or stripping in a movie role he’ll support her.

The source said: “Zac believes it is a good way for her to get beyond the teeny-bopper stigma. He is making the leap to A-list actor and he wants Vanessa to go along with him.”

Zac Efron’s longtime girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens has her next movie role lined up: She’ll be starring in a revamp of the classic Beauty and the Beast story, titled “Beastly.”

It’ll be “a modern-day take on the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ tale where a New York teen is transformed into a hideous monster in order to find true love.”

So far the only other cast member rumored to co-star is British actor Alex Pettyfer. The movie will be released sometime in 2010.

Zac Efron is in Berlin, Germany this week promoting his newest hit movie, 17 Again. Though the movie premiered in the US on April 17th, it won’t hit German theaters until May 14th.

Zac’s mom Starla accompanied on his trip to Europe, and she walked with him on the red carpet yesterday.

Zac Efron’s newest movie, 17 Again, was a hit this weekend!

The movie, in which Zac plays the 17-year-old version of a 37-year-old who gets a second chance to do things over, earned $24.1 million in its first weekend in the US.

Zac took some much-deserved time off this weekend, attending a Lakers vs Utah Jazz game with longtime girlfriend and High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens, where they sat courtside next to Harvey Levin of TMZ.
