“Footloose” Remake to Start Production in the Spring
The rumor’s holding strong - Zac will be starring in the lead role of the “Footloose” remake, which is now being said to be on the fast-track for a Spring 2009 production start.
The movie is aiming for an older teen and adult set, and Zac is also getting an adult deal: a mid-seven-figure salary and script approval!
The movie will include some new songs to go along with some of the memorable original ones which, while it wasn’t a musical, had a lot of hits including the Kenny Loggins title song as well as “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise” and “Holding Out for a Hero.”
At least some of those classics are expected to be in the new movie. Think Kevin Bacon will make an appearance?

Vanessa’s Movie Gets Yet Another Name Change to “Bandslam”

Apparently Vanessa’s upcoming movie (should we just start calling it that?) is going through another name change: First it was Will, then Rock On, and now it’s supposedly going to be Bandslam. Vanessa talked about it a little bit in an interview with NeXt:
NeXt: What are your upcoming projects?
Vanessa: I just released my second album, “Identified.” I’m going to be going on tour. I did a movie called, well, it was called “Rock On”, but I guess they’re changing the name again, and that comes out in, I think, February. I’m really excited about that because it’s a different role for me to play, because in “High School Musical” I’m like the happy, sweet girl. In ["Rock On"] I’m kind of like the dark, weird, gloomy, has-no-friends girl.
She also talks about High School Musical 3 and Identified!
